Five Malaysians who are residents of Torch
Tower in Dubai that caught fire on Friday are safe, Wisma Putra said.
“The Foreign Ministry confirms that the five
Malaysians who are residents at the Torch Tower, Dubai are safe following the
blaze that struck the tower on Friday,” it said in a statement.
It said the Ministry had conveyed its
sympathies to victims of the blaze that tore through one of the world's tallest
residential towers.
The statement said Malaysians in need of
consular assistance should contact the consulate-general of Malaysia in Dubai
at +97143985843 or email mwdubai@kln.gov.my.
The consulate-general is located at 83, Street
10D, Mankhool, Bur Dubai, P.O. Box 4598, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
On Friday, a fire ripped through the 79-storey Torch Tower in
the second blaze to hit the high-rise since 2015, forcing hundreds of occupants
to flee the building.
